Our women's Bible study this month was entitled, The God of a Good Laugh, Even As we Age, God Can Do it! We looked at the story of Abraham and Sarah who had Isaac at 100 and 90 years of age, respectively. Both Abraham and Sarah laughed when God made the promise. Many of us agreed that we probably would have laughed too! How often has the Holy Spirit whispered to you something that God wanted you to do and you laughed and said, "Not me!"
As women, we are scrutinized harshly by society, especially as we age. We were reminded: God knew us and still knows us; had a plan for us and still has a plan for us; created us in His image and we are still in His image; made us fearfully and wonderfully and we are still fearfully and wonderfully made; gave us breath to praise Him and we still have breath to praise Him!
We asked the question, "How would you answer the question, "Are you pregnant?" We had a good time with that one! 😂 We learned that as long as we have breath in our bodies, we can be pregnant- pregnant with goals, desires and possibilities. In Genesis 18:14, the rhetorical question is asked, "Is there anything too hard for God?"
Below are some questions we were encouraged to think about and lessons we learned from Sarah's story (expand below):
Remember, God can and will use you, even in old age. Laugh if you must, but know there is nothing too hard for God. Let God use you!
